Toronto Rum Festival
TORONTO RUM FESTIVAL : TASTE THE SPIRITS OF THE ISLANDS
Carnival Sunday has a new event that has been brewing for some time, the city will come alive with the rum flavours of the islands.
August 4th 2019 will mark the launch of Toronto’s first Rum Festival. The festival will be hosted on the accessible grounds of Ontario Place with the waterfront and carnival spirit as its backdrop. For the first year the festival is projected to host minimum 3,000 patrons who are rum enthusiasts or curious tasters who recall that their fondest moments in any island vacation involved rum.
A RUM VILLAGE
Our Rum Village will feature branded “Rum Shops” designed to invite avid rum connoisseurs and enthusiasts to take a sip. As patrons wonder the village there will be live entertainment and food pitstops along the way. The star of the village however is the Rum, a unique and rich byproduct of the Cane which patrons will have an opportunity to sample and rank. Much like its global counterparts this festival will have rum you can access at your local LCBO and will use the chance to introduce you to some new brands within the premium variety. Yes, that bottle you always wanted to try before purchase will be there.
Admission to the village gets the patron some tasting tokens which we encourage them to spend wisely before the pallet is overwhelmed. Throughout the day there will be an opportunity to share opinions in the “People’s Rum Choice Competition” in addition to some brand engagement. The village will have a multi- genred and multi-sensory appeal as the steelepan, the reggae beat, soca rhythm and the fire breathing will be add to the ambiance, providing an island feeling respite from a bustling city.
The Toronto Rum Festival is a daytime festival presented by D’Bandit Entertainment and the Festival Management Committee. As a featured event for carnival it is designed to professionally showcase various rum of the Caribbean while creating a true caribbean atmosphere through entertainment. Come to the West Island of Ontario Place for your taste. The Toronto Rum Festival promises to be a memorable experience which you will permanently add to your carnival weekend calendar in Toronto . On the main stage comedian Jay Martin will host performances from world renowned artists and DJs. Throughout the rum village will be sightings of familiar cultural touchstones from the Caribbean, there will be food and more sampling tokens on sale. No need to get drunk or tipsy but we definitely encourage you to get #rummed!
