Created in the UK, the genre of music termed Lovers Rock has its roots firmly in Jamaica, reggae’s originating home. In fact some classic Jamaican reggae love songs are included in this story, which is dedicated to all who know what Lovers Rock was, what Lovers Rock is, and what Lovers Rock will always be; an infectious musical bug that, once caught, never leaves you.

Of course, 43 of these songs could never hope to fully give justice to the enormous amount of Lovers Rock songs out there. However, readers can view this small slice as an introduction to Lovers Rock, from which they can go out and discover more for themselves. Most of the chosen songs have lyrical relevance to the storyline, which takes you from the hot tropical island of Jamaica to the not so sunny UK shores.

When she leaves Jamaica for England, will Sonia remember her boyfriend whom she promised would be her boy for life? And, can this boy, Dennis, be trusted to stay loyal despite being a member of an immensely popular three boy reggae band? In addition to all of this, what significance does an African heirloom have in both their lives?

You are sure to enjoy this intriguing story that is held together so wonderfully by the 43 featured classic Lovers Rock songs. Listen to the soundtrack, as you read the book, on my YouTube playlist: Lovers Rock Let The Music Play/Hartley Hines

So, let the music play, and enjoy…

Lovers Rock: Let The Music Play

This is the first of three book in my Lovers Rock series. Everyone who’ve read it tells me how extremely enjoyable they found the story, and I am sure it will have the same affect on you. I hope one day to have it put on stage or screen as a musical.

The second book is entitled, ‘Lovers Rock 2: Manhattan Skyline,’ and the final book in the trilogy, ‘Lovers Rock 3: Life Is What You Make It,’ will hopefully be released in 2018
