Walanda Smith, PhD, is a pediatric psychologist who joined Phoenix Children’s in 2005. She is a specialist in social support and psychological well-being for patients with sickle cell disease and diabetes.
Smith earned her masters and doctoral degrees in Clinical Psychology at Fordham University in Bronx, New York. She completed psychology internships and postdoctoral training at Bellevue Hospital and Medical Center in New York, New York, and at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona.
In addition to having served on the faculty of Northern Arizona University, Smith has also worked at Arizona State Hospital, at the Brooklyn Center for Psychotherapy, and in private practice. She is certified by the Arizona Board of Psychologist Examiners.
