Valerie Gilliam, MD, attended Swarthmore College, where she received her Bachelor of Arts. She continued on to Jefferson Medical College for her Medical Degree. Her internship and residency in Diagnostic Radiology was completed at the Wilmington Medical Center.
Dr. Gilliam is a member of several professional associations including National Black Leadership in Cancer, the National Medical Association, the American Medical Association, the American Medical Women’s Association, the American College of Radiology, the Radiological Society of North America, and the Delaware Medical Society. She has authored various medical imaging articles, and has received multiple awards and recognition such as Woman of the Year for both the National Association of University Women, and the Afro-American Historical Society.
Dr. Gilliam has earned various awards and honors in her career such as the Community Service Recognition Award by the City of Wilmington, and the Distinguished President’s Award by the National Medical Association, and she has been published in the Delaware Medical Journal.
Licensed in Delaware, Dr. Gilliam specializes in Women’s Imaging studies. Departing her most recent career as Clinical Assistant Professor in the Breast Imaging Division of Thomas University Hospital, Dr. Gilliam joined Women’s Imaging Center of Delaware in 2007.
